The same can be said for cleaning a house, like we just did because company is coming, and I still managed to finish a story. So I finished two smaller elephants today.

I think short stories could be considered a smaller elephant. The idea of doing one is easier to think of but at the same time it can be intimidating for the first couple of times. Now it’s old hat in one way. The same is true for writing a novel. I’ve done it twice and when I finished the second one I felt like belching and starting on another elephant.

Of course the time it takes to eat the smaller elephants takes time from the larger one but I need to work on those larger ones before they start smelling.
