Month 3, Day 3 of this Writing in Public challenge.
Day fourteen of the new novel called Against Time.
Overall a pretty good day today. A fun and relaxing one, actually.
I rolled out around 1 p.m. and ended up late for the WMG Publishing meeting at 2 p.m. because of having to stop at the snail mail and then banks.
During the meetings, Kris and Allyson and I worked out a nifty new way we are going to treat my stories. Again, something new. You’ll see, it’s great fun. I’ll talk about it here as well as do a longer New World of Publishing blog about it.
And also I got Smith’s Monthly #1 paper editions ordered and on the way. Allyson and Zack and Jerimy are getting the electronic edition ready. Lots of details on something like this for the first issue, especially since we are doing some fun new stuff with the electronic edition. But since we have been through four issues now of Fiction River, we’re got the subscription details mostly under control. We hope.
After the meetings, Kris and I walked (exercise… about a mile of walking one way) over to the mall and had dinner at a great restaurant there, then walked back to WMG. Kris headed home and I spent another hour or so getting some files ready for Allyson to do covers for Thunder Mountain and also for this novel I am finishing up now called Against Time. Allyson will do the covers for the novels and nonfiction books, I am doing them for the short stories and Smith’s Monthly.
I got home around 11 p.m. and Kris and I headed downstairs to watch some television. (No nap with Walter today.)
So around 12:30 a.m. I made it back to my writing computer to try to do a decent amount today on this book so I can finish it tomorrow. From 12:30 a.m. until 4:30 a.m. I wrote exactly 5,250 words in five sessions with five minute breaks. I have the window open wide in my office and the cool air and sounds of the ocean waves kept me going with only two mugs of tea.
That should be enough words today to finish it tomorrow, I hope. Still not sure of the ending, but I hope I will trip over it as I’m typing tomorrow.
Now off at 5 a.m. to watch some boring television so I can shut my mind off and get a decent start tomorrow.
