Month 3, Day 22 of this Writing in Public challenge.
Day 5 of writing the novel Monumental Summit.
Not a clue how I got a single word of fiction written today. And if I hadn’t been working on this novel and actually interested in it, more than likely I wouldn’t have.
I rolled out around 1 p.m. after a good eight hours sleep. No problem there, but I felt like crap.
Stumbled around and did some e-mail, then after Kris got back from the afternoon session with the writers taking the Science Fiction Workshop, I headed off to the snail mail, grabbed some chicken, and went to the WMG offices. Got there around 3:30 p.m.
I had some lunch and felt a little less groggy, so recorded about half of a new lecture on being prolific that we will put up this weekend. Then I went home at 5:30 p.m., did the dishes and cooked dinner.
Dinner did not set well with me, and I still felt groggy, like someone had planted a sand trap under my eyelids. But good enough to keep going. So after dinner and news, without a nap, I went back up to WMG to finish off the last of the lecture videos on being prolific. Then home here to do workshop stuff by 8:30 p.m.
After forty or so minutes, I gave up and went out and took a nap on the couch in the living room. That lasted for about a half hour and I felt even worse by 10 p.m. Just a sucky day. I think it was exhaustion, something from dinner that didn’t agree, and nasty inversion allergies. Right now we are fogged in here at the coast. Thick and nasty stuff.
Kris got home from teaching a little after 10 p.m. and I headed to the bedroom for another nap. Me and the white cat slept for an hour and a half.
So by midnight I was up and not really functioning any better at all, so I went downstairs to watch television under a quilt with the white cat on my lap.
By 1:30 in the morning I felt better and managed to come back up here to this office and do the workshop stuff, and then by 2 a.m. I was feeling even better so I headed to the writing computer.
First session I managed 500 words by 3 a.m. and almost tossed in the towel there. But at the end of the 500 words I knew what came in the next chapter for a change and it was kind of cool. I wanted to write it.
So I went back for another session after a short break and managed two more fast sessions of over 1,400 words each. Not my normal at all, but I was willing to take it. I was almost afraid to take a break in case I couldn’t get back to it.
So ended up with 3,350 words for the day. Go figure.
And I recorded a lecture on being prolific. Irony or what in that?
