Writing in Public: Month 5, Day 28

Month 5, Day 28 of this Writing in Public challenge.

10th Day for the novel Kill Button: A Cold Poker Gang Novel.

Another really busy day. And another day where the novel just keeps tossing me surprises.

Rolled out around 2 p.m. I did some e-mail and was to the snail mail by 3:30 p.m.

Then headed to WMG Publishing to work on getting formatted and posted the two lectures I recorded yesterday. The first one is called “Starting Up or Starting Again.”

The second lecture is a requested lecture on “Endings.” I’ll announce both in a few days.

At one point I ran over to a store to buy some lamps for a new area in WMG, and I also spent some time in the bookstore talking collectables. All on breaks while working on the formatting of the workshops.

So home by 6:30 p.m. and did a little more e-mail and then through the routine of the nap with the white cat, dinner, news, and dishes. Then back off to WMG Publishing by 9 p.m. to work on the lecture stuff.

(All almost exactly as the day before…wow am I in a rut except for the bookstore stuff.)

Got that done about 11:30 p.m. which included moving a ton of boxes, putting together four lamps, and sorting collectable books. (I have time as lecture segments load.)

Then home and read a new novelette from Kris. (It’s wonderful.) Then downstairs to watch a little news.

So at 2:15 a.m. I fired up on the novel, doing just over 1,000 words in about 45 minutes. Took a short break and did almost 2,000 words without anymore than standing up for a minute and then sitting back down. The novel is rolling. But wow do I not know where it is going. I think I just tossed in a kitchen sink.

Took another break, another 1,1,00 words. Looked up and saw it was almost 5 a.m.

So 4,100 words on the novel in just under three hours. That’s super fast for me. I could finish this thing in a couple of days if I wasn’t working at so many other jobs at the moment. Ahh, well, nature of the beast.

Wow, that is a good haul in 3 hours.
Between tennis and moving from room to room to get cool, I only got 1000 words yesterday, but reading your word count sure is getting me motivated to do more each day. Thanks.

  2. Dean, your words in the discussion group were not entirely wasted. :)
