She’s going to the core reasons why so many people buy into such stupid myths.
So worth the read. Especially for any writer.

Thank you, THANK YOU for pointing us to Kris’s post; it’s fantastic (and a lot she talks about reminds me of me, lol).
Wow, this has to be about the shortest comment I’ve ever left here.
It’s a little distressing how many of the points on that list apply to me.
Although in my defense, I think they’re the less significant points. For instance, “strive for survival, not wealth.” I’m a programmer. That covers my survival; and if not wealth, at least the luxury to buy books I want to read and to otherwise support my writing.
But just yesterday a friend asked when I’m quitting my day job (after 1 sale, that’s maybe a little premature); and my first answer was that didn’t interest me, I just want some readers. Now I’m rethinking that answer.
