Lawrence Block Opens a Window to the Past

Folks, if you have not yet read Lawrence Block’s article he wrote in 1981 and just reprinted, run now. Read. It’s about getting by on a writer’s income. Much of the advice is spot on for today’s writers, other parts will give you a window into what it was like back “in the day.” (grin) And a wonderful look at making a living with fiction.

Hey, Master Class grads, does that remind you of the game or what?

Great post and great perspective. The one thing I think I may get a pass on is the money aspect. I’m relatively frugal, as I’ve come to realize I need very little, and everything else is an unnecessary want. Still, a great and wise perspective. Thanks for sharing!

I have been watching LB for a long time and used to read his writing books. The post was very interesting and reminded me of things I read about Isaac Asimov and Heinlein. In some ways the writing life is the same; however, it is changing rapidly.

Thanks for the link to LB’s blog.

I am sending a friend over to take a look at your blog and good information. He has been writing for a long time, but is now thinking of publishing. I feel that he would be a good fit here.
