All kinds of activity around here concerning workshops in the new year.
Starting the week of January 7th, we have workshops to help writers do their own covers and interior designs. There is still room in all four workshops. (And yes, it would be fine to take both the cover workshop and the interior workshop at the same time. Many are doing just that.)
Take a look under “Online Workshops” tab above. The cover and interior workshops are taught by both Allyson Longueira and me. Allyson is the publisher of WMG Publishing Inc. and a professional book designer.
Starting the first week of February, we have five fiction craft workshops starting as well, and all five still have openings. The five craft workshops are: Cliffhangers, Pitches and Blurbs, Genre Structure, Openings, and Ideas to Story. You can find descriptions of all five under the “Online Workshops” tab above. (Yes, it is possible to take more than one at a time. Each workshop takes from three to five hours per week of your time.)
Coming in 2013, WMG Publishing Inc. has some really fun major projects. On the teaching side, we will be starting a new Online Lecture Series. These lectures, both short and long, will cover a wide range of topics in publishing and will be done by Kris, Allyson, me and others. Stay tuned for all the details. I will be announcing the first lectures in the first few weeks of January. (They are not workshops, just lectures online.) We’re excited about them to be honest.
Coming in April 2013 from WMG Publishing Inc. is the first issue of Fiction River. A lot more information about that anthology/magazine will be coming toward the end of January. I’ll put some of the information here and direct you to where you can find more. I’m editing three of the first seven in the first year and Kris and I are overall editors for the entire series. (And no, submissions are not open yet.)
And even though it isn’t a part of WMG Publishing Inc., I am excited about the start-up of Ella Distribution Incorporated. Ella will be distributing WMG paper books to bookstores. And as some bata testing gets finished later in the spring and early summer, Ella will be in contact with other indie publishers to help them get books into bookstores.
Ella Bookstore will also be coming up at the same time. In the bookstore, Ella will be selling my signed books, among many other things. Stay tuned here over this year for updates on Ella Distribution and Ella Bookstore.
And if you have any questions about the workshops, feel free to contact me or ask in the comments section. There is still room in the cover and interior workshops starting the week of January 7th.
And still room in all five of the craft workshops starting the first week of February. Make sure you take a look at the full schedule through the spring under the Online Workshops tab above.
