Most of you know because of my regular posts, I’ve been moving my short fiction into new covers with trade paper editions. Now they are also going into audio thanks to the great work of Jane at WMG Publishing Inc.
And it looks pretty darned cool on Amazon to see these books with the electronic edition at $2.99, the trade paper at $4.99, and the audio edition at $6.95.
And talk about some great narrators on them. Wow.
T.J. Jones did the Jukebox stories, Jukebox Gifts and The Ghost of the Garden Lounge.
I hope he’s going to continue to do them all. They are wonderful.
Sketch MacQuinor did the Captain Brian Saber story Hand in Space. Amazing how he did both the elderly voices and the young voices and made them work.
And Thaddeus R.R. Boyd narrated the difficult humor story Dinner on a Flying Saucer. I wrote it and I couldn’t believe how funny that story turned out to be with him reading it.

I’ve got one audiobook published and two more in production. It’s a fun process, though harder than I had expected to listen to someone else reading my words. Don’t get me wrong, the narrators did an excellent job and it all came out well, but I still cringe a little out of frightful anticipation.
How formidable is the pricing for a 50k word book in audio format? Are we talking four figures here?

Yes, audio pricing you have no choice in. It is all based on time. So yes, 50K will get up above $10.00 easily.
