Talked About The Problems of Fantasy Maps Today…

Doing Maps and Great Fantasy Characters… Two really amazing special workshops only available through our Kickstarter campaign for just four more days. Barkson’s Journey, the novel, would have been out a year ago if not for the problems with doing a map. That’s why we are doing this workshop with this class. If you ever think you will be using a map for anything in the future, this course will save you more time and problems and money than you can imagine. We talked about that today on Writer Direct (a webinar on WMGWriterStore.com that happens every Friday at 4pm and you can get information on the store.) After this…

    Reminded of Something…

Backlist Memories… Not a part of my branding series, just me reminding myself of something… Here is the story. Fact, at the moment Kris and I have about 1,400 titles of one sort or another. We have spent over 12 years of hard work and time and a ton of money to get those all into one form of print or another. Some make decent money, some make a little money, some don’t sell at all. Normal and expected. I have to be honest, I can’t remember a bunch of the novels I have written and published. Very few of the 106 published novels in traditional publishing, more of the…

    An Interesting Experience…

Kris and I Went to Follies… You know, the musical written by Steven Sondheim.  It was both amazingly cool and amazingly awful at the same time. It was being held in a great small theater in a local casino (really nice one). And the reason Kris and I went was because it featured some of the real Vegas showgirls from the past.  And it was only going to be there for five days and never again. When the woman who originally danced in the Moulin Rouge was introduced and came on stage, and they had big pictures on screens of her in the 1950s, I was just in awe. And…

    Still Reading December Stories…

But Almost Done… And then I will start reading the March stories. This has been great fun for me to do this. Even though I got a ways behind because of my injury, it was still fun. And I really appreciate everyone giving me the time.  So thank you! Barkson’s Journey Kickstarter is doing really, really well. Gaining on the second stretch goal in just three days. Wow. (And note the branding as per the series I am doing here. Plus check out the very special workshops you can only get through the campaign.) Fiction Branding… Part 9

Lack of Knowledge… For some reason, fiction writers have an aversion to learning anything about the one thing that makes them money. That is copyright and licensing that copyright. For upwards of thirty years now, I have been trying to figure out why this aversion happens. Even though learning copyright is far, far more important than say learning how to pace a story or indie publish a story, writers just ignore it or if they are even aware, they simply say they will get to it someday. Now, I tend to be kinder to writers who are just unaware of how copyright works vs those who purposely do not want…
