A NORMAL DAY
Sometimes I wonder if I ever have just a normal day, but honestly today felt about as normal as it gets for me.
A bunch of errands before getting to WMG offices around 3:30 p.m. Checked in at the new store, then ran more errands, including out to our original store.
I got back to WMG offices and second store just before five and started in working on workshop stuff. I finished what I needed to do around 7 p.m. and headed for the grocery store, then home to take a nap before cooking dinner.
I managed to get to my e-mail around 9:30 and get to the workshop assignments around 10 or so.
Got all that finished around 11:30 p.m.
Took a short break, then went to my writing computer. By 12:30 a.m. I had finished 1,100 words and went to watch some television.
Back around 1:30 a.m. and managed another 1,000 words by 2:15 a.m., just powering along.
Then I took a very short break and wrote another 700 words before 3 a.m. and calling it a night because I have to be up early tomorrow.
2,800 words. Just humming right along. Still no clue at all how it will end.
Spent 6 hours on workshop and work stuff, then 2.5 hours on writing. The rest was television, naps, and shopping and so on.

Still lots of room in all of them except short story. Ideas workshop has no one in it at the moment, so if you want some one-on-one help from me with ideas, that’s the one to jump into quickly.

Topic of the Night: Normal Days
Sort of a quick continuation of last nights topic. The desire for normal. Many people think they need normal to be able to find time to write. And when things don’t go normal, they make excuses to not write.
After the month of not writing and just working on the store, which I enjoyed a lot, I really had a craving for getting back to “normal.” But the more I thought about it, the more I came to realize that what I consider normal most people would find horrible.
Normal for me is constant change and movement.
I spend seven days a week, almost never without a break, doing publishing, teaching, writing, and business stuff. I start from shortly after I get up to right before I go to bed after writing this blog every night. I get from six to seven hours of sleep a night, plus a short nap.
My friends from the old days who are my age at 65 think I have lost a bolt for going so hard and strong every day. We all grew up in the 1950s when 65 was retirement age, not an age to start new businesses and push seven days a week at something.
I try to laugh it off and tell them it keeps me young, but not so sure it does. Honestly don’t care. If I cared, I would shave more often and get a haircut more than twice a year.
But the pushing and my normal life keeps me entertained and I can’t imagine doing anything else, to be honest.
So I’m going to continue to push and have fun.
And I suppose that pushing and having fun with what I do and never knowing what any day will bring is normal for me.
So my advice to you is ignore what society tells you that you must do, ignore what friends tell you that you should do. Do what you want. So when you get to my age, you might be having as much fun as I am.
Ain’t easy, but it is worth it.
