Day Six: Writing a Novel in Half a Month

Chapter Six: Day Six of Writing a Novel in Half a Month

Ended up getting up an hour ahead of my normal time. Rolled out at 10:30 am, not for any reason other than I had had enough rest, even though I went to be around 4 am. Just resting and watching television for a number of hours is actually restful. Who knew.

So made it to this internet computer at 11:30

Day Six, Entry One.

12:30 pm.  For the first hour starting at 11:30 am I did a bunch of email. Got that caught up some.

1:30 pm. For the next hour I did a short newsletter that will go out tomorrow. Then started on sending off the invite letters to those who got the special workshops from the Colliding Words Kickstarter.

2:30 to 4:00 pm. Lunch with Kris and brainstorming some ideas and doing some planning.

4:00 to 5:oo pm. Read some Cave Creek stories. Then rested my eye.

5:00 to 6:00 pm. I moved over to my writing computer, did a little short cycle back (about 300 words) to remember where I left off on Sunday, then did about 600 new words before heading to grab dinner. Back after dinner some time with another update.

Day Six, Entry Two.

7:00 pm to 8:30 pm.  I did assignments and launched the week’s workshops for the February classes.

8:30 to 9:15 pm. Out for exercise, walking in the neighborhood and down to our office and such. I was going to do longer, but decided tonight I would spend more time writing later. I will do a long walk tomorrow, get my steps for the week back up.

Time to take a nap.

Day Six, Entry Three.

11:30 pm. Got back in here after my nap and then Kris and I watched some television. So by 11:30 I was finishing up some email and then reading some Cave Creek stories.

1:00 am. Remembered an episode of one of my favorite shows had just recorded. The Curse of Oak Island. Just flat love the science in it and how they are slowly just figuring out the history of that strange place.  So when I took a break from the reading to rest my eye, I ended up watching this week’s episode.

2:00 am. Back in my office and to my writing computer, finally. I knew from regular weeks Monday and Tuesday were going to be difficult at best because of all the screen time I have to spend with assignments and such. This week was no different. But felt I had some time left to write, so went at it.

In one hour I did about 1,150 words before decided that before I strained my eye I had better do this and call it a night. So 1,750 words today. It is now right at 3:00 am.

Again no idea where the book is going at all. None. But it is fun to write and over the next five days I should be able to do a lot more words before next Monday and Tuesday roll around. (grin)  If a half month is 15 days, and I am aiming for around 40,000 words, I need to average just over 3,000 words a day for nine days. I think I can do that. We shall see.

TOTALS FOR NOVEL.

Day One… 3,004 words

Day Two… 2,950 words

Day Three… 2,500 words

Day Four… 1,810 Words

Day Five… 0 Words

Day Six… 1,750 Words

TOTAL… 12,014 words
