One More Adventure Day

More Meetings and a Ton More Walking…

I got over 13,000 steps today after 16,000 yesterday. Yes, tired legs.

Hours worth of meetings today and then some play, including a poker tournament tonight. Got knocked out right before the final table in 11th. Still fun numbers of hours.

Those of you who read my books, I have now had four helpings of bread pudding in the Golden Nugget Buffet. I can almost see some of the Cold Poker Gang sitting at one table and a few tables away some of the Ghost of a Chance Agents. I love the place, can you tell? (Grin)

Nope, not a gambler at all. Just a poker player. I stay away from anything I don’t have an advantage on.

That could be the topic of another writing/publishing book (1 of your 67?). You’ve already compared the stages of being a writer to the stages of being a poker player. I’ve heard people say about getting an agent (yes, I know your opinion of that) or being published (traditionally) that they were lucky, or that so-and-so’s book was popular because they were lucky to have the right book at the right time. Or they speak of “advantage” by gaming the Kindle metrics. Maybe in these blog posts (and compiled as a book) you can talk about how to stop hoping for luck and look for the REAL advantages? Or would that just rehash the stages book, do you think?

All that would do would be to make people angry I’m afraid. Punching at a person’s dreams of being anointed by the magic agent and editor doesn’t teach, just causes anger and even more grasping at the myths. The Indie Game pop-up workshop we are bringing on will do exactly what you are talking about in how to do this in the modern world but without comparing it much to the other route which has no hope anymore.

But maybe a book called “Stop Hoping for Luck” might be a good one. I’ll see if I can come up with a way to do that and only piss off half the planet instead of everyone. (Grin)
