Story Seven and Moving

One Week, Seven Stories…

Pretty happy to have gotten through the first hard area of this challenge. Between story #4 and #7 it feels like I had reached the first third of a novel. You know, everything is shit, what’s the point in going forward place we all hit. Difference in a professional writer and an early writer is professionals power through, early writers give up on the book.

Well, I am a professional writer and I got through that part. So now the next few days will be a challenge with just a ton of stuff to do outside of writing. After that, I see smoother sailing I hope.

Onward.

The Day

Got up around 11:30 a.m. again after getting almost a full night’s sleep. Felt a ton better. Then did a little email, packed some boxes, and fed Toughie, the feral cat.

Then I headed to WMG offices to work on Pulphouse. I did that all afternoon until around 4:30. Then I went out to our south stores and spent some time there, ending up over at the auction round 5:30 to talk with friends.

I stayed for the first hour of the auction, then headed back to the office to work some more, at 7:00 p.m. returning to the auction at 8:30 to catch the last hour and a half. Got some nifty Star Wars collectable MIP stuff for the stores and a massive and very old lion head door knocker. Got it for $20, should be able to sell it for over a hundred easily.

Then home to do email, take a little nap, talk with Kris for a time, then get to writing at 12:30 a.m. Wind is still blowing and it is pounding rain, but eventually this storm will get past us.

Story #7…

Not at all sure exactly how I got started on tonight’s story. I know I remembered I had called a ship in my Seeders Universe Rescue One and figured that Rescue Two would have a story as well.

That just seemed to be a non-triggered thought as I sat down to write, so I went with it. I was in my writing chair, I always trust the voice there.

So I typed in “Rescue Two” as the title and started into a story, no idea what it would be about in the slightest, other than it would be in my Seeder’s Universe in space. Maybe recording the Space Opera workshop got me thinking about it or something. Damned if I know.

So by 1:30 a.m. I had 1,100 words and took a short break to get some peanut butter on a spoon and some more water.

By 2:30 a.m. I had the story at 2,400 words. Still no idea where it was going at all. So I took another short break, did some stretches, then went back and finished it by 3:15 at 3,300 words.

One week of stories done that I never would have done without this challenge. Nifty.

Neighbors will take over feeding him. And while I am still here, but gone, Gwyneth from WMG is going to feed him regularly. He’s completely feral and can take of himself nicely and I got a hunch we are not the only ones around who feed him. He’s very smart.
