    Typing Fast vs Being Prolific

Two Very Different Things… I know a ton of writers who can type and write per hour a lot faster than me. In fact half the writers taking the Speed workshop ended up being a lot faster hour-by-hour writers than I am. So how in 2017 did I write seventeen novels and about sixty short stories and very, very few other writers did that much, not counting all the blogs and editing I did? What Is Possible?

How Much Can You Write?  I have always wondered why writers can’t produce more words. Back to that evil “Why?” question I talked about a few posts back. In fact, that question about why we can’t write more is the torture of all writers I know. And I am clearly no exception. I always think I should be doing more. Always. So I figured I would tap dance on this concept a little to see if it would help a few people. What is Writing Fast? As I said yesterday, writing fast doesn’t mean you write sloppy or type faster. Or take shortcuts with plotting or story. Writing faster is simply spending more time in the chair telling stories. That’s it. Every moment you are in the chair writing you are doing the best you can. You just spend more moments in a day and a week is all. An…

Killing the Top Ten Sacred Cows of Publishing: #2

This series of posts will turn into a book called Killing the Top Ten Sacred Cows of Publishing later this fall with an introduction. And then it will be followed by a book called Killing the Top Ten Sacred Cows of Indie Publishing. But first I wanted to put each myth or “Sacred Cow” up here again as I promised. This second Sacred Cow article was published here in 2010 and I redid it once since, but now it is slightly redone for the world of 2013/2014. However, this third incarnation hasn’t changed that much. On many of these posts it is amazing to me as I redo them how…
